We’ve been seeing the reincarnation of the VW Bus at auto shows for several years. It’s been on sale in Europe for a few years now. And, finally, it looks like we’re going to get it in the United States by the end of the year. We now have pricing and range for the 2025 VW ID Buzz.
Base price under $60k
From the press materials, it’s unclear if the $59,995 base price includes destination fees or not. But considering, that a non-electric minivan starts around $40k, you can see there is certainly a markup for the electric powertrain. Well, and the fact that this is just a cool vehicle.
At launch, you’ll see three trims, with the highest-priced model topping out at $70k. The base model is available with rear-wheel drive only, while the other two trims will have an all-wheel-drive option with a $4,500 price tag.
The three trims and base prices will be:
- Pro S: $59,995
- Pro S Plus: $63,495
- 1st Edition: $65,495
Range tops 230 miles
For the RWD model, you’re looking at 234 miles of range. The AWD model rings in at 231 miles. We have to admit that’s a bit disappointing as we’re starting to see three-row SUVs such as the Kia EV9 come into play with 300 miles of top range.
2025 VW ID Buzz interiors and packaging
The base Pro S will be well equipped with features such as power-folding side mirrors, heated second-row outboard seats, power tailgate, leatherette seating surfaces, heated-and-ventilated massaging front seats, heated steering wheel, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen and a middle-row bench seat. However, as previously noted, it will be RWD only, plus it will only have single-tone exterior paint options of white, gray and black and two interior color themes (Copper and Moonlight).
You have to level up to get two-tone paint options, a third interior color option, a middle row captain’s chair option and AWD availability.
The Pro S Plus will add the light interior color option of Dune as well as features such as a tow hitch, a 14-speaker Harmon/Kardon premium audio system, head-up display, heated windshield and an available panoramic glass roof.
The 1St Edition is available in the launch year only and comes exclusively with the Dune interior. It adds special badging, standard glass roof with electrochromatic tinting, roof cross bars and a “special owner’s gift.”
The bottom line
The 2025 VW ID Buzz is one of those vehicles that people have been waiting anxiously for in the U.S., and we will start to see them on the streets before Christmas. Sure, it’s a minivan, but it’s a cool minivan, and we expect it to sell like hotcakes – premium price or no.
