At the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show, we had a chance to experience the Deepal S07, the model underpinning the upcoming Mazda EZ-60, which will reportedly carry the ‘CX-6e’ branding overseas. While Mazda has so far only released preliminary information on its electric SUV ahead of its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show next week, the Deepal S07 offers a clear preview of what customers can expect.
U.S. launch
It’s evident that the EZ-60 will be made in China alongside the Deepal model primarily for the Chinese market, with export volume following later. Given the astronomical tariffs on Chinese goods, there’s little hope for it to be brought to the U.S., where the company’s next major launch is the all-new Mazda CX-5 that will welcome a hybrid version in 2027.
Design

Mazda’s designers have reinterpreted the base vehicle with their own styling direction, fitting panels lifted off the vehicle’s body, and in some cases, redesigning the whole assembly. The EZ-60 applies elements of the “Kodo” design language the S07’s body structure, with streamlined surfacing and airflow channels in the D-pillars for reduced drag and improved thermal management.
The EZ-60 has unique elements like illuminated grille and logo, gloss black appliques on the side profile, a D-pillar vent, L-Shaped taillights, and ‘Mazda’ lettering on the tailgate. Mazda has also introduced a new body color, Future Purple, which will stay exclusive to the EZ-60.

Interior & Features
The cabin of the Deepal S07 includes heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and synthetic leather upholstery in black or orange color options. Sitting in the car, we noticed many premium touches including imitation quilted leather seat covers, convincing faux wood inserts, metallic highlights, sporty contrast stitching, and good quality plastics. These comfort and convenience features are likely to be present in Mazda’s SUV as well.

On the tech front, the Deepal S07 features a Qualcomm 8155 chip, a high-resolution infotainment system, and a comprehensive driver assistance suite. A 14-speaker Sony audio system with active noise cancellation is integrated into a floating center structure called the “sound island.” Besides, it gets front headrest speaker, augmented reality head-up display (HUD), and 40W ventilated wireless fast charger. These systems should also appear in the EZ-60.
The S07 offers faux quilted leather seats which feel comfortable and offer excellent back, side and neck support. At the rear, I was impressed with its flat floor which was set at a comfortable height, and wide seats, with loads of space all around. Safety features include electronic stability control, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring. All of these are expected to be mirrored in the Mazda electric SUV.
Specifications
The Deepal S07 measures 4,750 mm (187 inches) in length, 1,930 mm (76 inches) in width, and 1,625 mm (64 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm (114 inches). It offers a 125-liter (4.4 cu ft) front trunk and a 445-liter (15.7 cu ft) rear cargo area, expanding to 1,385 liters (48.9 cu ft) with the rear seats folded. Except for the wheelbase, dimensions could vary in the Mazda. However, space is expected to mirror the EZ-60.

The Deepal S07 uses a rear-wheel-drive layout powered by a single-speed automatic transmission and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. The motor delivers 160 kW (214 hp) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque, allowing a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of 7.9 seconds.
Power comes from a 79.97 kWh ternary lithium battery, providing a WLTP-certified range of 475 km (295 miles). It supports 11 kW AC charging, taking around 8 hours for a full charge, and 92 kW DC fast charging, which replenishes the battery from 30% to 80% in 35 minutes. Mazda is likely to retain this configuration for its model.
Release Date & Pricing
Mazda should announce the pricing of the EZ-60 in Shanghai next week, and we expect it to range from RMB 150,000 to RMB 200,000 (USD 20,412 to USD 27,216), similar to the Deepal S07. It marks the second ‘Alliance BEV’ from Changan Automobile, following the Mazda 6e sedan, and should be positioned as a Tesla Model Y rival in China, Europe, and other export markets this year.
