The Skoda Elroq is on display here at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, where I had a chance to get a full demo. Offering a spacious interior, three battery options, and a range of over 560 km (348 miles), it aims to make electric mobility a bit more accessible.

Prices in some European markets begin at around EUR 33,000 (USD 36,116), and after spending some time with the vehicle, I can tell that it’s a competitive choice in the local EV market.

Design

The Elroq is the first Skoda to fully embrace the brand’s new Modern Solid design language. A key highlight is the Tech-Deck Face radiator grille, a minimalist version of the brand’s traditional grille, and the ‘Skoda’ lettering that replaces the round logo on the front and steering wheel. The compact SUV also features new LED headlight designs, including an optional Light Band connecting the headlights on certain variants.

Interior

Inside, the Skoda Elroq comes across as a pleasant surprise with its clean and minimalist design.

The Skoda Elroq’s interior combines a minimalist design with sustainable materials. Skoda offers various trim levels, starting with the basic Studio trim, which features black fabric upholstery. The Loft trim adds Moss Green stitching to anthracite grey upholstery, with seats made from leatherette and RecyTitan fabric, which includes 78% recycled PET and recycled fibers.

The Lodge trim offers a mix of TechnoFil material, grey leatherette, and orange accents, including eye-catching orange stitching and seat belts. TechnoFil is made from recycled ECONYL fibers and polyester. For a sportier look, the Sportline trim includes carbon-look details, sports seats with integrated headrests, and Suedia material upholstery with grey stitching.

The Skoda Elroq offers up to 55.8 cu. ft. of cargo space, which is one aspect where it loses against the Skoda Karoq (up to 1,630 liters/57.6 cu. ft.).

The Elroq offers ample space, with a 470-liter (16.6 cu. ft.) cargo area, expandable to 1,580 liters (55.8 cu. ft.) with the seats folded down. Practical storage solutions include compartments totaling 48 liters and a clever charging cable holder under the boot lid. A 13-inch infotainment display and the Laura voice assistant, complete the interior highlights.

My experience inside the Skoda Elroq

The Skoda Elroq at the Paris Motor Show impressed me right from the start. Getting in and out was hassle-free, and the cabin felt more spacious than the VW ID.3, despite sharing the same platform. The raised floor made stepping in easy, even for my six-foot frame. Once seated, I felt cocooned in comfort, thanks to excellent lumbar and under-thigh support. The armrests, both door-mounted and center, were well-placed and functional.

I was surprised by the headroom in the front of the Elroq’s cabin. The dashboard’s carbon-fiber-like finish adds a sporty vibe, while the white stitching on top enhances its design. The large, standalone screen is neatly integrated, and this model includes a head-up display, which projects key info clearly.

The rear seat offers great comfort for tall passengers, with ample knee and legroom. Though there’s no sunroof, the well-placed windows allow plenty of light, staying true to Skoda’s value-for-money ethos.

I noticed that the Skoda Elroq features a flat floor, which meant I didn’t have to sit with my knees too high up in the center position of the rear seat.

Specifications

The Elroq rides on the MEB platform and comes with three battery options: 55 kWh, 63 kWh, and 82 kWh, available across four versions. The Elroq 50 features the smallest battery paired with a 125 kW (168 hp) motor, while the Elroq 60 offers a 150 kW (201 hp) motor with the mid-size battery. The top-tier Elroq 85, with a 210 kW (282 hp) motor, offers rear-wheel drive, and an all-wheel-drive variant, the Elroq 85x, is expected in 2025.

The Elroq 85 boasts a range of up to 360 miles and a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph). Other versions are not bad either, with the Elroq 60 providing a range of 250 miles and the Elroq 50 offering 230 miles. Up to 175 kW capability allowing the largest battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes. Even the smaller batteries can charge in under 25 minutes.
