The Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Blue Oval’s staple EV in the U.S., has received its 2025 model year update. Ford offers the 2025 Mustang Mach-E with enhancements for improved styling, driving assistance, and cold-weather efficiency, all at much lower prices than the outgoing model. Here are all the details of the updated EV:

Design

Customers choosing the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E’s Premium grade can specify it with a new ‘Sports Appearance Package’ that brings a look similar to the sporiter GT grade. Image Source: Ford

Introduced as a 2021 model, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is nearly five years old. In the case of a normal, gas-powered SUV, Ford would’ve already rolled out a facelift. However, the Mustang Mach-E still looks quite appealing and customers continue to find it desirable. Moreover, there haven’t been any test mule sightings yet, which usually precede a partial redesign, so it doesn’t seem like Ford plans to introduce a cosmetic refresh anytime soon. The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E carries over the familiar sporty exterior but with an available new styling.

Ford offers the 2025 Mustang Mach-E Select with new, 19-inch Monochromatic High Gloss Black wheels and the 2025 Mustang Mach-E Rally with new, 19-inch High Gloss Black Carbonized Gray wheels featuring white printed graphics, both as an option. The former comes with a front recovery hook as part of the standard equipment, which isn’t the case in the outgoing model. The company equips the 2025 Mustang Mach-E GT with new Monochromatic High Gloss Black wheels.

Ford stopped offering the 19-inch High Gloss Black optional wheels on the Mustang Mach-E’s Select grade with the 2025 model year update. Moreover, the company deleted the windshield wiper de-icer. Lastly, it revised the color palette, adding Desert Sand, Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, and Velocity Blue Metallic and deleting Grabber Blue Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, and Vapor Blue Metallic.

A new ‘Sport Appearance Package’ lets customers get some of GT grade’s styling cues on the Premium trim. The optional package upgrades the front fascia and grille shield and includes red-colored Brembo brake calipers (front), 19-inch Monochromatic High Gloss Black wheels, and black-painted door cladding and wheel lips as well.

Interior & Features

The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E has a few visual and functional changes on the inside. Instead of a rotary gear shifter built into the center console, it features a column-mounted gear shifter. The 2025 Mustang Mach-E’s monostable gear shifter frees up space on the center console and Ford has used it to offer additional cubby openings which customers can use to keep small objects like keys and an ice scraper. The Premium grade features upgraded front seats with a new ventilation (cooling) function for enhanced comfort.

The 2025 Mustang Mach-E ships with BlueCruise 1.5 instead of the outgoing model’s 1.4 version. The updated hands-free driving system includes a new function – Automatic Lane Change. This feature automatically changes the lane if the preceding vehicle is slower than the speed the set speed or if a following vehicle gets too close in the passing lane. When Ford tested BlueCruise 1.5, it saw that the system automates up to 45% of driver-initiated lane changes.

Ford offers the 2025 Mustang Mach-E with a new Ford Connectivity Package that includes a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot. This package also allows customers to watch YouTube videos on the central touchscreen, single along with the music system (karaoke), and access Connected Navigation, including such as EV Trip Planner, Route Guidance, and Predictive Destinations.

Customers specifying their 2025 Mustang Mach-E in the GT grade with the new ‘Sport Appearance Package’ can look forward to changes like sports pedals and red accent stitching on the seats, dashboard, door trim, steering wheel, and center console lid as well.

Specifications

The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E is more efficient as unlike the outgoing model, it includes a heat pump. Standard across the line-up, the heat pump scavenges waste heat from various components and uses it to warm up the cabin, thereby reducing the energy consumption of the HVAC system and effectively the load on the battery pack. Also new on the updated model is an NACS fast-charging adapter, included with the mobile power cord.

Ford has yet to reveal all the details of the battery pack and motors of the 2025 Mustang Mach-E. However, since the company doesn’t mention any other mechanical changes apart from the ones we talked about above, it’s safe to assume it has carried over the outgoing model’s components unaltered.

For reference, the Mustang Mach-E is currently (MY2024) available with 72 kWh LFP and 91 kWh NCM battery pack options and a wide range of powertrain options in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive drivetrain layouts. The EV packs up to 480 horsepower and up to 700 lb.-ft. of torque and can hit 0 to 60 mph as quickly as just 3.4 seconds. It delivers an EPA-estimated range of up to 320 miles.

Ford sources the 91 kWh NCM battery pack from LG Energy Solutions, which manufactures it at its factory in Wroclaw, Poland. The companies plan to partially relocate the production to the latter’s American plant in Holland, Michigan. The Blue Oval aims to make the Mustang Mach-E configurations featuring this battery pack eligible for the Clean Vehicle Tax Credit. The federal incentive program offers a tax credit of up to USD 7,500 on eligible models, depending on what extent they meet the requirements.

Ford needs to further improve the charging aspect of the Mustang Mach-E, as a peak power of 150 kW falls short of today’s standards. Depending on the battery pack you choose, the Mustang Mach-E takes 32.3 or 36.2 minutes (MY2024) for a 10-80% fast-charging session. Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 and Kia’s EV6 can be fast-charged in half that time – 18 minutes, as they can accept direct current at much higher rates.

Donna Dickson, who took over Ron Heiser’s Mustang Mach-E Chief Engineer position at Ford in 2021, talked about the range and various other aspects of the EV with YouTube channel Munro Live in August 2021. She suggested that the Mustang Mach-E will see range improvements with every model year update.

We have actions planned. It’s year-over-year improvement. So, we’ll go and get additional range improvements, actions coming in for ’22, we have more coming in for ’23, and more coming in for ’24.

Donna Dickson, Mustang Mach-E Chief Engineer, Ford

Production & Sales

Ford manufactures the Mustang Mach-E at the Cuautitlán Stamping and Assembly Plant (Mexico) since 2020. Ford built 94,465 units of the Mustang Mach-E at its Mexican factory in 2023. In 2024, the company seems to have reduced the production target owing to the slowdown in EV demand globally. Between January and October 2024, it built just 43,846 units.

Ford sold 40,771 units of the Mustang Mach-E in the U.S. in 2023. Compared to 2022 (39,458 units), that was only a small, 3.3% growth. 2024 is looking promising, though, with year-to-date sales as of October, at 38,939 units, up 23.2% year-over-year (January-October 2023: 31,614 units).

TopElectricSUV says

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is one of the best electric SUVs from a mainstream brand on the American market, offering performance that can match a Tesla, a spacious interior, familiar and intuitive controls for comfort and connectivity features, and a decent range that makes it usable for road trips. The MY2025 update makes it more enticing for electric SUV customers with small improvements and significant price cuts across the board.
