While the 1970s may have been tough for manufacturers around the world, that didn’t mean engineers tried to advance the cause. This 1974 Jensen-Healey MkII convertible currently listed on AutoHunter is a splendid example of that. It comes with a color-matched hardtop, the original bill of sale, and service records.
Once owned by award-winning journalist Connie Chung, this classic sports car comes in the so-very-British combination of Black with a tan vinyl interior. It features a black convertible top and chrome mirrors on both sides.

A set of 15-inch VCT wheels are wrapped in 205/50 Yokohama S-Drive radials.

The tan vinyl interior features a pair of buckets divided by a black console housing the transmission shifter and a storage compartment. Woodgrain trim abounds and frames a Jensen (no relation) AM/FM/cassette stereo.

The instrument panel consists of a set of Smiths gauges that includes a 140-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and readouts for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The odometer shows 11,837 miles, though the title indicates this car is mileage-exempt.

What’s so great about the Jensen-Healey is its powerplant, a Lotus-derived 2.0-liter inline-four with dual overhead cams and—get this—four valves per cylinder. That’s quite early for this type of head, as it did not start to become common practice until a decade later. Twin SU carburetors feed fuel to the little rocket, which is backed by the optional five-speed manual. The rear gearing is 3.45:1.

A roadster from a storied British company with associations with two other storied firms plus past celebrity ownership? Sounds like a fun car, so be sure to bid on this 1974 Jensen-Healey MkII convertible on AutoHunter before 12:00 p.m. (MST) on Friday, February 21, 2025.
