AutoHunter Spotlight: 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

Most people think of the Chevrolet Camaro as quick in a straight line and quite a handful the minute the road gets twisty. Chevy saw what the competition was doing (namely the Shelby Mustang) and decided to make a Camaro that was perfect for going fast straight ahead as well as keeping up with other highly focused cars – even some European ones – on a track day. For the name of this new car, GM reached back into its archives and called it the Camaro ZL1.

A staggering 580 horsepower and 556 lb-ft of torque give the ZL1 plenty of power. GM combined that with a chassis featuring their third-generation magnetorheological shocks, which made for a car that was truly in its element at any track day. The ZL1 is the Camaro for sports car drivers.

Now on AutoHunter, the auction platform powered by ClassicCars.com, is one of these cars, a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 coupe.

According to the seller, this low-mileage 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 coupe is powered by an LSA supercharged 6.2-liter V8 mated to a 6L90 six-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. It comes in Ashen Gray Metallic over a black leather and microsuede interior. This fifth-generation Camaro is available now from the selling dealer with an owner’s manual, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear title. It is basically new in the wrapper with a total of only 7,152 miles.

The exterior looks to be in exceptional condition, with no blemishes on the paint whatsoever and wheels with no curb rash of any kind. The car features Xenon headlights with halo rings, fog lamps, a front splitter, and a factory aluminum hood with a carbon fiber insert.

The interior looks as good as the exterior. The seats are clad in black leather with microfiber inserts and also feature ZL1 headrest embroidery. Other features include tinted power windows, a head-up display, a rearview camera, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a Boston Acoustics audio system.

Under the hood is the LSA supercharged 6.2-liter V8, which appears to be totally stock and completely free of any dirt.

I have always loved the Camaro, but this ZL1 is something else entirely. It is a practically showroom-new example of the first time GM successfully turned the Camaro into a true track animal.

The auction for this 7K-mile 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 coupe ends on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. (MST).
