CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – A 1935 Swallow Sidecar SS1 two-door coupe, owned by Eduardo Zavala of St. Petersburg, Florida, won Best in Show in Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance at the Fifth Annual Chattanooga Motorcar Festival Sponsored by Millennium Bank.

This SS1 is a British sports car produced by the Swallow Sidecar Company, which later became Jaguar Cars. The model was introduced at the 1931 London Motor Show, and this rare surviving example of an SS1 Coupe was delivered new to Argentinian tango performer Ada Falcon. It spent 80 years in Buenos Aires before coming to the U.S.

Ideal weather in the Scenic City was the perfect backdrop for three days of family-friendly events. A special $20 three-day ticket offered a variety of fun-filled activities, including live music; a Saturday morning parade led by event founder Byron DeFoor and racing champion and Grand Marshal David Hobbs; the J. Willard Marriott Ferrari Club; Jaguar Club; car club displays; specialty car displays; a Luftgekühlt gathering of air-cooled Porsches; the Broad Arrow auction; celebrity panel discussions; a street festival; laser light shows; a fundraising gala; a balloon drop, and much more.

The weekend concluded with the world-class Concours d’Elegance featuring significant cars from around the country vying for class trophies and the coveted Best in Show honor.

All proceeds from the event benefit Chattanooga’s NeuroScience Innovation Foundation, a leading Alzheimer’s and brain health research foundation dedicated to supporting high-impact research, educational and biomedical and clinical innovation. https://neurofdn.com/.

“This was just a fantastic three days of fabulous cars, fun activities for families and car fans, and we at the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival are privileged to have the support of not only Millennium Bank, but all the supporters who have come on board to make this fifth Festival a success,” said Festival founder Byron DeFoor. “I am grateful to everyone who brought their beautiful cars to show and share with everyone who came to the event. We are proud to direct all our proceeds to the NeuroScience Innovation Foundation. Chattanooga has a big heart. Thank you all for your support.”
