What would make driving to the beach even more enjoyable? If you could feel the sun on your skin and smell the ocean air before you even get there. Mercedes-Benz must feel the same way because it recently announced the 2025 SL 63 Manufaktur Golden Coast.

Being an SL 63, it’s a convertible powered by a hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, which is transmitted through a nine-speed automatic and AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive. That combination will get the Manufaktur Golden Coast to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and by the water faster than a seagull dive-bombing someone’s sandwich.

So why did Mercedes-Benz’s Manufaktur customization division call this SL the Golden Coast? According to the automaker, its Manufaktur Kalahari Gold Magno paint is “reminiscent of gleaming golden sand beaches.” That special finish is also on the flanges of the black forged 21-inch AMG wheels. Black elements, such as the front splitter, mirror caps, and side sills, from the AMG Night Package and AMG Extended Night Package, add contrast. Plus, the AMG Aerodynamics Package sucks the Golden Coast closer to the black road.

There’s more gold inside the cabin. It’s used for the diamond stitching on the black Nappa leather AMG Performance seats as well as the steering wheel, armrest, center door panels, instrument panel, and Manufaktur high-pile floor mats with black Nappa leather piping. Just to make sure passengers in the Golden Coast know how special it is, Mercedes adds a special badge to the center console.

Strangely, that badge doesn’t show how few Golden Coasts Mercedes will make: 100 for the entire world market. Mercedes says it will start arriving in U.S. dealerships this month, though expect any you do see to be spoken for already.

This is not the first time Manfaktur has configured a special, limited-run SL: in August 2023, it unveiled the 2024 Mercedes-AMG SL 63 MANUFAKTUR Big Sur at the Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge in Pebble Beach.
