The MG Cyberster, MG’s all-electric roadster, was present at the Paris Motor Show 2024 which concluded on Sunday. Interestingly, MG Motor itself was not an official participant in the event. It was CA Autobank, the European auto finance company, which displayed the convertible at its booth, attracting plenty of interest from the French public.

TopElectricSUV has seen the Cyberster up close in Thailand and Abu Dhabi earlier this year. Here are our takeaways from our recent encounter in France.

Exterior

Celebrating MG’s 100th anniversary, the Cyberster is a spiritual successor to the classic MGB Roadster. It is a slightly toned-down version of the dramatic 2020 concept but retains a sharp, sporty look. The proportions are somewhat similar to the BMW Z4, though its design evokes a mixed response. While I like the aggressive front with sharp lines and a prominent splitter for improved aerodynamics, I feel like the rear design lacks fluidity.

Noteworthy exterior features include an electric soft roof and scissor doors, which add to its striking look. The front is defined by large honeycomb-shaped openings and triangular air inlets reminiscent of the BMW Z4. At the rear, a continuous light strip underlines the car’s width, with distinctive LED taillights creating arrow-shaped indicators.

Interior

Inside, the car’s triple-screen setup is one of its big features, with a curved display panel behind the steering wheel that resembles high-end gaming consoles. The center screen displays driving information, while the side screens allow smartphone connectivity and climate control adjustments.

The Cyberster supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and comes with an 8-speaker Bose audio system.

Although it is high-tech, the interior is less radical than the concept version and thankfully more practical for everyday use. The flat-bottomed steering wheel replaces the concept’s steering yoke, offering better visibility of the driver display. The low-slung body provides adequate space for passengers, though drivers taller than six feet will find headroom limited.

Specifications

The Cyberster is offered globally in three variants, with power outputs ranging from 310 hp to 536 hp. It can accelerate from 0-62 mph in as little as 3.2 seconds, with top speeds around 125 mph. Battery pack options vary between 64 kWh and 77 kWh, providing a WLTP range of up to 316 miles, depending on the variant.
