Incorporated into this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show for the first time, the Hall of Fame is set to recognise people, clubs and cars that have made their mark on the show and its community over the years. Organisers have revealed a list of potential inductees for two of four categories set to form the inaugural awards.

The first-ever Motoring Club category sees four organisations shortlisted according to strict criteria. Each must strive to represent its members and their chosen vehicles, have achieved a considerable milestone, and show unwavering support for the hobby and the Classic Motor Show.

The Jowett Car Club joins the list as the world’s olders single-make car club at 101 years old, while show favourites the Sporting Bears is recognised for its incredible fundraising efforts via its Dream Rides feature, which is set to return to the NEC this year. The MG Car Club is also shortlisted as it celebrates the centenary of MG, while BMW Car Club GB enters the fray having attended each and every Classic Motor Show since its inception.

In the first year of the Hall of Fame, inductees will be chosen by the Classic Motor Show organising team. Nine members of staff were asked to nominate one inductee in the categories; the team deliberated on all of the nominations, then votes were taken to whittle down and identify the winner in each category. In the case of a tie, the show director had the casting vote.

The Classic Car category is the second to have its nominees revealed, focusing on models that have made a significant contribution to motoring, either in design, functional ingenuity, technical advancement, cultural impact, motorsport achievements or longevity in the industry. This inaugral shorlist includes four important classics: ‘Blower’ Bentley, Mini Cooper, Jaguar E-type and the Ferrari Testarossa.

Visitors will be invited to a reveal of the Classic Car and Motoring Club on the opening morning of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show in Hall 2 where the Hall of Fame will be celebrated throughout the weekend.

The inductees of the remaining two categories – Industry Ambassador and Community Ambassador will also be revealed at the event.
