Nissan has teased the fourth-generation Nissan Rogue for the third time, confirming details about its looks and powertrain. At the 2025 Nissan Global Product and Technology Showcase on March 26, the company announced new models for its main global markets, where the U.S. was discussed in detail.

Confirmation

In FY26, production of the all-new, fourth-generation Rogue will begin. The model will be the first to offer Nissan’s innovative e-Power technology to consumers in the U.S. and Canada.

The next-gen Rogue is part of Nissan’s 10 new/refreshed models lined up for the U.S. and Canada, and is expected to continue rolling out of the Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant in Tennessee. The accompanying teaser, following additional exposure, reveals several design details of Nissan’s future crossover.

New Light Signature

Starting with the lights, the next-gen Nissan Rogue hybrid sports a unique daytime running light signature with five large units on each side to create a bold presence. The inner elements are hexagonal, while the outer twin units feature five-sided shapes that complement overall design. The integration of the lighting units with the grille is quite similar to the ‘Parametric Dynamics’ style of the Tucson.

Above these lights, twin projector LED modules appear visible. The teaser also shows a chunky grille, horizontal slats on the lower intake, polygonal bumper wings, and an illuminated Nissan badge. A radar unit on the lower intake suggests advanced autonomous driving features (ProPILOT).

Sporty & Athletic body

Moving upwards, the hood gets muscular haunches, and the windshield appears more steeply raked than that of today’s Rogue. Large roof bars, thicker door handles, and widened wheel arches with extensions add to the Rogue’s adventurous makeover. The alloy wheel spoke design is consistent with the DRL shape, and the rear is accentuated with sharply cut tail lights. Although a sunroof isn’t visible in the teaser, Nissan will likely offer a panoramic glass roof in premium trims.

Self-charging Powertrain

Besides e-Power, the next-gen Rogue will also offer gas and plug-in hybrid options.

The incoming Rogue will feature the company’s third-generation e-Power system. We got up close with the second-generation e-Power system in Thailand earlier this week where we learned key details about this technology. The engine solely acts as a generator, charging a small battery, which then drives the electric motor.

For the third generation, Nissan has confirmed a new 1.5-liter engine and redesigned motor. The system will offer 15% improvement in fuel efficiency, lower NVH, while offering better performance compared to the current tech.

Renewed Competition

There will be no lack of competition for the next-gen Rogue Hybrid when it enters the market in early 2027. Nissan Americas Chief Planning Officer, Ponz Pandikuthira, confirmed the launch date during a company event on October 16, 2024 (via Automotive News).

Upcoming rivals include the all-new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, arriving later this year, the Subaru Forester Hybrid next month, and Honda’s facelifted CR-V Hybrid also due in 2025. The next-gen Mazda CX-5 Hybrid is scheduled for 2027, while South Korean media suggest the all-new Hyundai Tucson Hybrid will debut by late 2026.
