Proton has handed over a S70 to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for use by the Muallim district police as a patrol car. The handover ceremony took place following the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the carmaker’s first electric vehicle (EV) factory in Tanjong Malim.

The S70 was presented by Proton board member Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, with Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, Proton CEO Li Chunrong and Proton deputy CEO Roslan Abdullah in attendance.

We understand that only one unit of the S70, which is a Flagship variant, was handed over to the Muallim district police. As a PDRM vehicle, the car is decked out in official livery and gets a light bar and siren installed on its roof.

The Flagship is the second-highest variant in the S70 range and retails for RM89,800. All S70s are powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine making 150 PS (148 hp or 110 kW) and 226 Nm of torque, with drive going to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The next step up is the Flagship X at RM94,800 that adds on a sunroof and digital video recorder.
