TC Subaru, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia, is marking its participation in this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon KL (TAS KL) by dressing up a BRZ and WRX with a special ‘Kuala Lumpur Edition’ livery created in partnership with Motorsport Playground.
Celebrating traditional Malaysian craftsmanship, the livery features a vibrant songket print with an intricate design inspired by geometric shapes. As a further nod to the local culture, Malaysia’s national flower, the bunga raya (or hibiscus), is proudly showcased on the sides of the two performance vehicles in Subaru’s line-up of vehicles.
“This project showcases our commitment to highlighting the capabilities of our cars and what we can achieve together with the help and support of our community. It’s a blend of passion, creativity, and camaraderie that we aim to build for Subaru,” the company said in its release.
Both ‘Subaru Tokyo Auto Salon: Kuala Lumpur Edition’ cars will be showcased and be available for sale at TAS KL, which takes place at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from 8 to 10 November 2024.
In addition to the cars, TC Subaru also collaborated with homegrown streetwear brand Pestle & Mortar Clothing for an exclusive collection of clothing, which is inspired by both Japanese and Malaysian cultures. The company also announced that it recently hosted a time attack challenge at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit recently with the support of TD Racing.
On the 5.543-km track, a stock BRZ with a six-speed manual managed to set a time of 2:42:211 minutes, while a WRX (with a CVT) clocked 2:43:472 minutes. Both cars underwent essential preparations, including basic alignment and oil checks, before being sent out with professional racer Freddie Ang behind the wheel.
