Last month Stellantis announced that Ram would be pushing back the launch of the fully electric Ram 1500 REV in favor of releasing the range-extender Ramcharger first, citing changing market conditions (and a likely anticipation of Trump’s day-one EV rollbacks). Now, sources familiar with Ram’s plans told Mopar Insiders that the planned long-range version of the Ram REV is canceled altogether.

The sources shared an email Ram sent to out to its suppliers, notifying them of the variant’s cancellation. Emphasis Stellantis:

Dear Supplier Partners,

As Stellantis continues to focus on the launch of the Ram 1500 Ramcharger and Ram 1500 REV (BEV L), the company has made the decision to CANCEL the Light Duty Ram 1500 DT BEV XL (long range variant).

Consequently, we ask you to immediately cease all activities related to this project and suspend all incremental spending. Please note that the cancellation only applies to UNIQUE BEV XL parts. Work on any parts shared with the BEV L should NOT be cancelled/stopped.

The long-range Ram 1500 REV was set to have a huge 229-kWh battery that would have given the REV over 500 miles of range on a single charge. The standard version of the is still on track for regular production in 2026 with a 168-kWh battery, 800-volt DC fast charging tech and 350 miles of range. Meanwhile, the Ramcharger will go on sale later this year with two electric motors, a 92-kWh battery pack and a V6 engine that works as a generator to give a combined range of nearly 700 miles — not surprising Ram would just cancel the long-range EV, then. There’s still no word on exactly when the Ramcharger or Ram REV will go on sale.

This is the latest example of just how much of a mess Stellantis’ EV plans have been. From Dodge and its dealers sitting on inventories of Charger EVs they have to discount to sell to Jeep rushing production of its small Recon EV as the Wagoneer S arrives at dealers across the country to Chrysler canceling its planned electric crossover, Stellantis needs to get all its brands on the same page so they can finally sell products people want to buy.
